Labs across the globe recommend ESET NOD32 Antivirus
West Coast Labs and ICSA Labs have certified ESET Antivirus for computer protection which says a lot for an antivirus company. ICSA is the like don of certifications in this realm, so don’t just take it with a grain of salt…it’s a pretty big deal.
ESET like other antivirus programs participates in several independent test labs for their product, so almost every year there’s a middle man judging their software against others.
This year AV-Comparatives ran two different Malware detection tests; a regular test and another meant to simulate zero day threats by forcing the antivirus to use old virus definitions resulted in ESET receiving an ADVANCED+ score – technically the best rating you can get for zero-day tests.
How Well Does ESET Antivirus Malware Protection Perform?
ICSA and West coast also have both certified ESET NOD32 Antivirus for malware removal. AV-Comparatives gave a score of ADVANCED for the software’s overall removal performance.
As if that’s not enough, Dennis Technology Labs gave ESET their best rating – an AAA-level certification. Following that AV-Test scored ESET Antivirus 5.0 out of 6.0 of the possible points given for a protection rating.
For real-world dynamic tests by AV-Comparatives the antivirus software scored an ADVANCED + rating. Near perfect but read more…
Everything Sounds Great but….Anti-phishing Protection is a Problem For ESET
The detection rate for ESET is 48 percentage points behind Norton who is well known for their god-send detection times and methods. What does this mean? It means that ESET needs to step up their game.
If you choose to purchase ESET….be aware that their anti-phishing detection isn’t completely up to par compared to other antivirus security suites. If you’re not doing a lot of online transactions this shouldn’t worry you too much. If this is an issue, you need their internet security which has superb anti-phishing.
Don’t worry about downloading that file
Everyone has a bit of curiosity in them. If you’re familiar with torrents or file sharing sites you probably know that there are multiple “download” or “download now” buttons splashed all over the place. If you’ve clicked on one it’ll typically download some random “.exe” file which is executable.
These type of downloads are for the most part, malicious. Which is why you need either antivirus or internet security when browsing the web.
With ESET – you need not to worry, the antivirus silently checks downloaded files in real-time as they’re opened or executed. What this means is you won’t have to wait to open the document/file before knowing if it’s safe. If it’s not…it’ll be instantly blocked from your system and quarantined. It all happens seamlessly and instantaneously in the background.
