Webroot Antivirus Software Review

Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus is more than your typical retail antivirus software.

Webroot’s Antivirus is also an Anti-Malware software suite. In this webroot review we’re going to give you the lowdown on the company and the software, feel free to leave your review in the comments section below.

The company was founded in 1997 by Steven Thomas. If that tells you anything, this company has been around for a long time and has quite the reputation.

Is Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus a Good Antivirus?

In short. Yes.

The Webroot antivirus software stomps out malware worms and viruses that may currently reside on an infected computer and protects it from future infections. You can browse freely on the world wide web and it’ll help prevent you from visiting dangerous websites, or clicking bad links.

Webroot’s SecureAnwhere Antivirus handles spyware with muscle. Understand that there are different  types of spyware. Spyware isn’t just keyloggers, it can be Adware too.

The misc. “extra” piggy back’n software that comes included in many free software programs is a prime example, especially ad displaying toolbars. Any spyware that may reside on your computer to gather and steal your sensitive information that can be sent to others won’t be there for long.

If it’s deemed safe by the Webroot community, it’ll stay, if not, it’s gone.

Ever heard of a tracking cookie? It’s a less intrusive form of spyware – companies who use advertising place cookies on your computer so they can know when you visit a site, for how long, your ip address, your last used e-mail address, yeah – those are all gone now too!

Webroot SecureAnywhere antivirus insulates you from the threats so you can be more productive, with less worry. There are many fake free anti-spyware, anti-malware and antivirus software suites available …don’t mistake Webroot as one of them just because you haven’t used them, or heard of them.

Webroot has a mobile app for Android and iOS devices so you can stay protected while you’re on the go

A useful feature to have from an antivirus company is being able to protect yourself on the go with your mobile devices.

Webroot now offers an app that’ll help scan your phone for viruses and adware that could potentially spy on your browsing habits and collect personal information.

We have great respect for Webroot for this. They also have an antivirus app for iOS devices.

There’s a reason Webroot Antivirus has limited “features”

There are quite a few antivirus programs that claim to have 50 different features along with their antivirus program, and while yes Webroot has some additional features, they don’t boast about them because there are few.

Webroot stays focused on their main product which consists of providing a security suite that will protect computer users from viruses, malware, and spyware. That’s it.

Reviews across the internet have deemed Webroot SecureAnywhere antivirus one of the fastest antivirus software, maybe it’s because it isn’t bloated?

Webroot Antivirus Operation and Interface

Scan speeds are quicker than you’ve ever seen from an antivirus program. Norton on average takes roughly 5 minutes to completely scan a new out of the box computer and 10 minutes for one that’s been used for a while.

Webroot’s SecureAnywhere Antivirus on the other hand can do either in under 2 minutes.

The algorithm used for their software is simply revolutionary. When you do your initial start-up scan Webroot will scan and identify known to be safe programs and then exclude them from future scans, this will prevent long scans as your computer is progressively used.

The user interface is intuitive and friendly, users shouldn’t have a problem navigating the software. The software utilizes some Windows features to give the end-user a very fluid experience that flows well.

Any task that needs to be performed can easily be located from the software’s main menu. Scheduling scans is a plus with Webroot’s SecureAnywhere Antivirus but when you’ve got such fast scan speeds there’s little to no reason to use the scheduling feature.

Either way it’ll be there if you need it.

Customer service and support for Webroot

Webroot Antivirus Support and Updates

Zero-Day threats are not an issue for the software. In 2013 AV-Test reported that Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus  was 100% effective against Zero-Day threats and 99.8% effective against malware. Far better than you’ll get with any free antivirus.

Lastly PC Magazines’s antivirus test for 2013, Webroot SecureAnywhere antivirus was recognized by the staff as having the best score in malware blocking tests, malware removal tests, fast scans, and fast installation.

Support can be reached via Webroot’s live email, telephone and an online knowledge base.

Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus Review Summary

If you’re looking for high-end antivirus software to protect your computer and the sensitive data that you’ll be placing within it Webroot SecureAnywhere antivirus can do it.

It blocks and removes keyloggers, spyware and adware beyond expectations, the price is affordable and overall protection beats that of a free program.

If your privacy means something to you give up on getting a free antivirus and get yourself something like Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus, or something with comparable protection.

Among the several different antivirus software suites, they’ve got a pretty firm grip on their product and customer service is excellent if you have any problems.
